Position Title: Technician II

Location: Morrisville, NC
Shift: 1st shift  (7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) (Overtime: May be required if requested by John Deere)

Pay Rate: $45/Hr (W2 through KellyOCG for John Deere)

Assignment Length: 24 Months

Position Summary

The Technician II will perform electrical and mechanical testing, design validation, and verification activities for battery cells, battery packs, and battery-charging equipment.

This role supports engineering and laboratory operations by assembling test fixtures and setups, troubleshooting equipment, analyzing failures, maintaining documentation, and ensuring testing is performed safely and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Perform electrical and mechanical testing on:
  • Battery cells
  • Battery packs
  • Battery-charging equipment
• Work with engineering teams to understand and apply defined test requirements.
• Troubleshoot defective laboratory equipment and perform required maintenance.
• Build intermediate test harnesses and wire assemblies.
• Assemble and disassemble mechanical and electrical components.
• Assemble fixtures and test setups as required.
• Perform intermediate design functions related to test fixtures and setups.
• Inspect, test, and analyze failed components, assemblies, or tests to determine root causes.
• Create test documentation for prototype products when engineering instructions are not available.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to completed work.
• Inform supervisors of process, test, or design issues.
• Assist with corrective-action activities.
• Maintain product records, test results, and other required documentation.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers.
• Support 5S activities and maintain an organized laboratory environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree in Electronics or a related field.
• Two-year technical diploma.
• Equivalent military certification.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

• At least two years of related experience in one or more of the following:
  • Electronics
  • Manufacturing
  • Engineering
• Four or more years of related experience is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Ability to work safely around high-voltage battery components; training will be provided.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office tools.
• Understanding of test equipment and methods, including:
  • Multimeters
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Similar electrical test equipment
• Ability to read and interpret intermediate engineering documents, such as schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to understand and apply information from product, process, and component datasheets.
• Ability to assemble and disassemble components.
• Ability to maintain and troubleshoot laboratory test equipment.
• Ability to perform basic mechanical work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain accurate product records and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling and testing lithium-ion batteries.
• Experience building wire harnesses.
• Experience with battery-cell, battery-pack, or battery-charger testing.
• Experience with test fixture assembly, laboratory equipment, or prototype validation.
• Experience supporting design verification and validation activities.
