Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer – Industrial Engineering
Location: Mattoon, IL
Assignment Length: 24 Months
Pay Rate: $45/hour (W2 through KellyOCG for John Deere)
Primary Schedule: 1st shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Schedule Flexibility: May occasionally support 2nd shift, potentially up to 50% of the time, with workdays extending until approximately 7:00 p.m. Start times will shift accordingly.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide industrial engineering support for an SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) warehouse operation in Mattoon, Illinois.

This role will define and improve processes related to receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping. The engineer will serve as the resident SAP EWM transactional expert, support training for hourly employees, and share best practices to improve productivity, quality, delivery, safety, and cost.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, organized, collaborative, and comfortable communicating with employees and leaders across all levels of the warehouse and engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and process support for SAP EWM warehouse operations.
• Define and improve processes related to:
  • Receiving
  • Storage
  • Picking
  • Packing
  • Shipping
• Serve as the resident SAP EWM transactional subject-matter expert.
• Train hourly employees on SAP EWM transactions, processes, and best practices.
• Support continuous-improvement initiatives focused on:
  • Productivity
  • Quality
  • Delivery
  • Safety
  • Cost reduction
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, problems, and improvement opportunities.
• Create and use data visualizations to communicate performance and process insights.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for warehouse and process issues.
• Develop, implement, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Collaborate with front-line packing and shipping employees, pickers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Standardize processes and share best practices across the warehouse.
• Support changing operational needs, including occasional 2nd shift coverage.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise with SAP, preferably SAP EWM.
• Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective-action processes.
• Strong data analytics skills.
• Experience creating or interpreting data visualizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees and leaders at all organizational levels.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work onsite in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to support occasional 2nd shift coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain, or distribution processes.
• Experience defining or improving receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
• Experience training hourly or front-line employees.
• Experience with industrial engineering, process engineering, or warehouse engineering.
• Experience supporting SAP EWM implementations, transactions, or process improvements.
• Experience using data visualization or business intelligence tools.
