Job Title: Agronomy Analytics Specialist
Location: JD Cary or JDF (Fully remote considered; if remote, must work
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central and be able to travel to Des Moines 1–2 times/year)
Pay Rate: $48/hour (W2 through KellyOCG for John Deere)
Assignment Length: 12 Months
Position Summary
We are seeking a technically skilled Agronomy Analytics Specialist to support data analytics and reporting for marketing initiatives focused on the agronomic value of John Deere technologies. This role requires a unique blend of agronomy and geospatial analytics experience—heavy expertise in both is essential. The ideal candidate will work with large agricultural datasets, including operational data from equipment, field trials, remote sensing, and environmental sources, to generate actionable insights for internal stakeholders, dealers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage analytical projects from inception to delivery, including data processing,
statistical analysis, visualization, and interpretation - Work with a variety of datasets: operational (planters, sprayers, combines),
geospatial (soil maps, satellite imagery), and agronomic (weather, soil,
scouting data) - Quickly understand project objectives, develop analytical approaches, and deliver well-supported conclusions and recommendations
- Communicate findings clearly via PowerPoint slides or PDF summaries—material must be professional and easy to understand
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to support marketing and technology
initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Direct experience working with agricultural datasets
- Strong background in geospatial analytics specifically within the context of
agriculture—candidates with only general geospatial analytics or only
agronomy experience will not be considered - Proficiency in:
- ArcGIS Pro & QGIS
- R
- Databricks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly assemble and
summarize results in professional presentations (although not required to
personally present) - Demonstrated ability to manage analytics projects independently from start to finish
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of conveying complex analytics
in an accessible way
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with the John Deere Operations Center
- Experience with Python
- Experience with Tableau or PowerBI for data visualization
Education
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline highly preferred (PhD considered with
practical experience)
