Position Title: 3rd Shift Welding Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Davenport, IA
Shift: 3rd shift, 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. (Overtime: Required, Weekend Coverage: Required based on production needs)
Pay Rate: $52/hr (W2 through KellyOCG for John Deere)
Assignment Length: 12 Months
Position Summary
The 3rd Shift Welding Manufacturing Engineer provides hands-on technical support to fabrication operations during the overnight shift. This role focuses on maintaining production uptime and productivity, troubleshooting automated and manual welding processes, training operators, and supporting the implementation of manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing engineer who can quickly resolve production issues, take ownership of off-shift support activities, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Support 3rd shift production operations to maintain uptime and productivity.
- Assist operators, maintenance teams, and salaried staff with production-related issues.
- Troubleshoot Manufacturing Execution System (MES) issues.
- Troubleshoot automated welding processes and equipment.
- Troubleshoot manual welding processes.
- Train operators on manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Support the implementation and execution of new and existing manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain process documentation.
- Participate in process-improvement initiatives and project-related activities.
- Follow up on work tickets, action items, and team communications.
- Provide technical support during changing or ambiguous production situations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with manual and robotic welding systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving automated and manual manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous or changing situations.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong documentation and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FANUC robotic welding systems.
- Experience supporting welding automation in a production environment.
- Manufacturing engineering or related technical experience.
- Experience training operators on manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience with MES platforms and production-support systems.
