Position Title: Tactical (OFP) Quality Engineer
Location: Moline, IL
Assignment Length: 6 Months
Shift: 1st shift, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Pay Rate: $40/hr (W2 through KellyOCG for John Deere)
Visa Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the near future for this position.
Position Summary
The Tactical Quality Engineer will support nearly every aspect of quality operations at the John Deere Cylinder Moline Factory. This position provides hands-on, day-to-day quality support within a machining and manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work directly with production teams to identify quality concerns, analyze data, and implement effective corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support production-floor quality processes, including:
- Scrap processing
- Nonconforming material management
- Material Review Board (MRB) activities
- Cleanliness testing
- Serve as the primary Quality contact for multiple manufacturing departments, including:
- Machining
- Plating
- Welding
- Assembly
- Provide daily hands-on support to operators regarding concerns that may affect product quality.
- Investigate production and quality issues using structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Gather and analyze quality and production data.
- Drive corrective-action activities within assigned teams.
- Support quality reporting requirements.
- Maintain automated data-collection systems, including:
- QDAS
- JDAAT
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve product and process performance.
- Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, nonconforming material, and recurring quality issues.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting quality operations in a machining or manufacturing facility.
- Strong root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively on a production floor.
- Experience supporting operators and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple quality issues and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work onsite in Moline, Illinois, five days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with scrap, nonconforming material, MRB, or cleanliness-testing processes.
- Experience supporting machining, plating, welding, or assembly operations.
- Experience with QDAS.
- Experience with JDAAT.
- Experience with automated data-collection systems and quality reporting.
- Experience driving corrective actions and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
