Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer – Assembly / Cabs
Location: East Moline, IL
Shift: 1st shift, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m (May require off-shift support, overtime, and weekend work)
Assignment Length: 24 Months
Pay Rate: $55/hr (W2 through KellyOCG for John Deere)
Visa Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the near future for this position.
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will support the Front-End Equipment Assembly Business Unit at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, Illinois. This role focuses on quality engineering, continuous improvement, and production support across safety, quality, efficiency, and cost objectives.
The engineer will work closely with manufacturing, operations, production teams, and supplier quality to identify and resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain effective quality-control systems throughout the production and delivery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and implement continuous-improvement projects focused on:
- Safety
- Quality
- Efficiency
- Cost reduction
- Develop, monitor, and maintain quality-control systems and procedures.
- Ensure products meet established quality standards and customer requirements.
- Support quality throughout production and delivery processes.
- Partner with manufacturing, operations, and supplier-quality teams to address quality issues.
- Develop and implement corrective actions.
- Use SAP, MPPlanner, and JDAAT to perform engineering functions.
- Support production teams with quality and manufacturing-related issues.
- Execute multiple engineering tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, data analytics, or equivalent related work experience. Other educational backgrounds may be considered.
- Experience in one or more of the following engineering areas:
- Industrial engineering
- Reliability engineering
- Design engineering
- Manufacturing engineering
- Quality engineering
- Experience using engineering tools, systems, and databases.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with production teams and external suppliers.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage and complete a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work off shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous shop-floor experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CVML, torque tooling, or other mistake-proofing tools.
- Experience with JDAAT coding.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), including:
- SAP
- Ignition
- Related MES platforms
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with Creo View.
- Experience supporting assembly, cab, or front-end equipment manufacturing.
